Fresh face makeup for Men in 5 simple ways

Yes. You read it right! Makeup isn't just for women. Sometimes, we, men do need makeup too. It is a must most especially if you're attending an event that requires you too look good and flawless. Performers such as showbiz artists even apply makeup, and it doesn't mean that you are gay if you do so. So you better stop that notion. Haha.
As a Hair and Makeup Expert, let me share to you guys my secret in putting on makeup in 5 simple ways! This is also applicable to girls out there. :)

1. Warm up your skin with oil-free moisturizer. This is really the basic in putting on makeup. If you're fresh from taking a bath, your face is naturally tight because of the soap. So you need to loosen it up so that it is easy for you to put on makeup. Plus, it prevents your skin from being dry and exfoliating. Apply it evenly on the face and neck. Let me share you a tip: if you don't have a moisturizer, you may use non-greasy lotion. It can be a replacement. Trust me.

2. Use BB Cream instead of foundation. BB Cream is EVERYTHING. By putting on BB cream, you can skip concealer, sunblock cream, etc. BB creams are makeups that actually make your skin better.Mine, I am using Maybelline New York's Clear Smooth BB cream.  It instantly conceals dark spots and blemishes and even out skin tone, while smoothing, hydrating, brightening (seriously, the brightening factor is effective!), and protecting your skin with SPF 50! You just have to choose a BB cream that is in a shade warmer than your skin. It will make you look healthy in a natural way because it's so sheer. (Apply on the face and neck.)

3. Put on oil-free loose powder. I recommend Lewis and Pearl's White Blush Face Powder. It has an oil control formula and is hypoallergenic especially for sensitive skin. It leaves your skin naturally radiant, smooth, and shine-free. (Apply on the face and neck)

4. Mist your finished makeup gently with water. Hold the can at least one foot away from your face and gently mist, then let it absorb. Yes. I guess many of you didn't know this. The water will help the texture of the skin to look instantly radiant. This also helps soften all the makeup so it really looks like your skin.

5. Use moisturizing lip balm. I didn't want something that looked like lipstick, so I'm using Watson's moisturizing lip balm in luscious grape. It's natural-looking when applied on your lips. Plus it hydrates and leaves your lips healthy.

So there you have it! You are now ready to go. Very easy, right? Have a fresh day everyone! :)

SUCCESS! #CMS135OnlineMagazineLaunch

4 months ago, I enrolled in CMS 135 (Contemporary and Online Publishing) and started blogging for the first time in forever and just recently, this class came to an end (teary-eyed huhu). Last March 19, 2014, we have conducted our final culminating activity which is Blog Up: The CMS 135 Online Magazine Launch. It was held at St. Michael’s Dormitory, one of the dormitories inside UPV campus.

We launched two couture online magazines namely the #Peyups (hashtagpeyups.tumblr.com) and Isko Diaries (iskodiaries.tumblr.com). These two blogs feature people, places, experiences, and even fashion of Isko and Iska.  Mine, I wrote for Isko Diaries about the fashion statements of UPV faculty and students and how they are couturely prepared for hell week through their outfits. In short, stressed man tayo, bawing-bawi naman sa outfit! Hahaha. So go and check out our blogs! Like, now na! #conyo
me and my groupmates for Isko Diaries, the Maroon 5! Haha

The event turned out to be a success! Thanks to everyone who came to our launching. To my classmates, we did it! Horraay, we did it! Haha. And most especially, to our adviser, The Bobby Rodriguez, thank you for sharing with us your knowledge about online publishing and that I was able to appreciate everything about blogging. Just like my classmate, Froilene, I also admit that I wasn’t into it at first, but you gave me the motivation to do well in every post I made. Yayy!

my friends who came to the launching (from L to R- Edpril, Glevee, Katrina, Paul)

Balay Madyaas team! Thank you for coming! :)

CMS 135 class with Sir Bobby

It has been a fab semester with this Blogging class. Putting up a blog is never an easy one. I always spend almost a day just to compose a post. Seriously. From choosing interesting topic, editing/choosing photos, to promotion- everything is an adventure. So for sure, I will still update my blog if there’s time. The “coutureness” continues! Enjoy the last week of semester! Couture everyone!

11 signs that you’re addicted to Instagram

photo grabbed from http://media1.onsugar.com

You are having a good day wearing your best and fab outfit, you call out someone from your friends, and what’s next? Or let’s say you are with your friends having dinner, you sit down, the food comes out and before you can take a bite what is the first thing you do?

You take a photo, put some filter, and post it on Instagram. Now you’re fully satisfied knowing that your friends will get jealous and you may get 20 likes or so out of it.

The photo-sharing app has become of a phenomenon for everyone- from bloggers, magazines, celebrities, and athletes. We all love to see what everyone else is up to, especially so if you are stalking someone, and the more we get access to, the more we become obsessed. Guilty? Haha.

So here are the 11 signs you’re addicted to Instagram (based on Independent Fashion Bloggers)

1. You choose your outfits in the morning based on how they will look after filtering.
2. If you didn’t upload it, you didn’t eat it.
3. If you didn’t snap a #mirrorshot #selfie, you didn’t wear it.
4. Accordingly, rectangular photos on social media now look positively amateur.
5. In bed, after you turn out the light, you give Instagram one last refresh, just to make sure you’re caught up.
6. You find yourself frequently reviewing your own Instagram stream critically to assess what other people might think of you, based on your most recent photos.
7. You say things like “Hold on – I need to Insta this really quick,” more than once a day.
8. The hashtag(s) for your image is of utmost importance #nofilter #OOTD #throwbackthursday #latergram
9. You can’t understand why in the world anyone would have a Blackberry.
10. Choosing the right filter is the most agonizing six minutes of your day.
11. Instagram stalking is your new Facebook creeping, and you’re obsessive with your “clear search history” maintenance.

What signs can you identify with? Share it with me! :)

Fashion's Night Out 2014: Wear Me

Its FNO time once again, guys! This is the time where UP Modus members are given the opportunity to express and show their talents not just in modeling but also in other faces of fashion- production, photography, make-up and style, and of course, fashion design. The organization is composed of students from the University of the Philippines Visayas in Miagao who possess an interest in the said pursuit.
Fashion’s Night Out isn’t just a fashion show. It is a fashion show for a cause. And it has been proven by the organization holding shows since 2009 (Fashion Rocks 2009 & 2010 for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163, FNO 2011 which benefited SOS Children’s Village, and FNO 2013 for Chameleon). Each year, UP Modus partners with a charity in line with chosen advocacy. And this year’s fashion show kicked-off with a very timely and relevant advocacy- the campaign against HIV.

This year’s show entitled Fashion’s Night Out 2014: Wear Me took place on February 8 at SM City Iloilo Southpoint Rooftop. Talented designers from Iloilo showcased their collections as well as resident designers of Modus. Inspite some weather problems, the show pushed through and I can say that it was really successful.
As a proud member of UP Modus, I’m now giving you the FNO 2014: Wear Me! Couture everyone! :)
The Red Whistle
The show was led by collections from resident designers of UP Modus in collaboration with The Red Whistle- an advocate against HIV. What I love in this collection is the part where all boys came out and holding hands by partner! That entrance was powerful and I think the message was very clear. Kudos to Designer Earl Valdehuesa for the concept! Rei Hontanar’s concept was the same with last year’s but I still like it. Models’ face covered with masks is sooo couture! Along with Rei and Earl for Red Whistle were collections also of Janica Dela Pena, Jillian Ferraris, and Danika Cinco.

Jet Salcedo
This collection is so exquisite and enchanting! I love the headpieces but the real showstopper was the finale dress with full of pearls!

 Mike Sorilla
I always love every collection of Mike since Designers Week. I love the prints especially the floral prints because it’s so spring! His designs are wearable and are very pleasing to the eyes. I wanna try wearing some of his designs someday. :)

Doddie Vril Tan
Black is really couture! I love this collection! The cuts, details, and textures are amazing. This is one of my favorites.

Jun-G Candelario
This is the real showstopper. Sexy and daring but fabulous! This collection never fails me to love it every show. What I love about this are the sheer details and textures (beads, lace and appliqués). My most favorite collection.

Jaki Penalosa
This collection proves that the classic Filipino garb never goes out of style. Who would have thought that Hablon could be transformed into elegant and youthful pieces? Definitely I love the embroidered edges and high-hemlined shifts.

Bo Parcon
This collection is predominantly couture red and black! And I think that it really sums up the whole concept and advocacy of the show. I love the cleanness of textures, the elegance and class of the whole look. The feminity and masculinity was balanced-off and I believe that every man and woman would love to wear the collection.
With my friends during FNO. :)
