It's Dinagyang Festival 2014!

This year's Dinagyang experience was awesome! Honestly, it's my first time to really stroll around the city, to enjoy evening events, and to watch the At-ati Tribe Competition. Yeah, so sue me for being such a looser. But I didn't regret it! Haha.
Anyway, this is my very first video blog. I had a hard time shooting because my initial plan was to feature max of 10 fashionista people and to interview them about their outfits. But since they're camera-shy, so I did my plan B and here it is! I realize that it came out like I'm stalking them! Hahaha. I know that I didn't do good on this, but I'm pretty sure that this won't be my last. And I believe that there's always a room for improvement, right? :D
So basically, I just go around the City of Love to spot some fashionista people. Haha. May you enjoy my vlog! Viva Sr. Sto Nino! :)
P.S.: My introductory part here is in Hiligaynon. :)

Meanwhile, here are the photos submitted by our winners.

Chinseng Chua Alpuertini is a fashion designer/stylist and a Medicine student at Central Philippine University. His designs were featured on UPV's Hinugyaw Modeling Competition and UP Modus' Fashion's Night Out last year 2013 . On this look, I personally like the printed top and the bag! He really looks like the 19th century newspaper delivery boy. Will try to have a tucked-in look next time! Haha. Nice look! *wink*

Em Trava is a Fashion Designer/Stylist, fashion blogger, and studies Fashion Design and Marketing  at School of Fashion and the Arts. Her designs were also featured on Fashion's Night Out 2012-2013. On this look, I honestly love everything! The cropped-backless top and the origami skorts (skirt and short) are love. I would love to see girls wearing this kind of outfit! :)

Spotlight to the one and only David Guison

This week’s task is to interview and feature a media influencer in relation to the theme and content of your own blog. I got so excited about this assignment and I planned that the first spotlight (focus) should be a fashion/style blogger who is really good in blogging and of course, couture (once again ladies and gents haha)!
I came across several fashion and style blog sites, but there’s this one guy I really idolized the way he write, the photography, layout, and of course, the man himself. To be honest, I knew him just last year through some of my friends in UP Modus and UP Grafika because of our event which is the Folio. I once visited his blog, dgmanila.com, and scanned through his posts. Few months after, I caught myself visiting his blog regularly because I really like his fashion style and write up. The way he writes is like he’s just talking straightly directed to you and is very engaging! Basta, I’m a big fan! Haha.
Anyway, I was so lucky to interview him online to ask some few questions. I am grateful that he answered willingly, and swear, he’s really kind!
Friends, romans, countrymen-- the Brand Ambassador of Forever 21 Philippines, Canon, Crocs, SM Accessories, and many more, Awarded for Best Style Blog in 2013, one of the top bloggers in the country, Style Blogger, Photographer, Stylist, Writer, and Illustrator, The David Guison!

Spotlight: Why blogging? What inspires you to blog?
David G: Ever since I was in high school I always felt the need to document everything. "Pictures or it didn't happen" was my motto, you could say. Haha! I just love the idea of having your own journal for everyone to see and be in control with everything. From the writing, to the photography, to the layout. I find it really fun. It never really gets boring for me. There's just so much to share/write about!

Spotlight: How do you choose topics and posts?
David G: I just keep everything light and fun. I write about what I really know. I don't pretend to be an expert on something I don't have knowledge on. As much as possible I keep it relatable and relevant. Yes, I'm a style blogger but I also blog about my travels, the restaurants I've tried, events I've attended, etc. For my outfit posts, I get inspiration from random things such as music, movies, places, etc.

Spotlight:How do you manage your blog?
David G: I have a manager/handler who takes control of the business side of blogging, so I can focus on the content. I write my own posts, do the styling, etc. I have a photographer who shoots my outfits, I have a web developer, a graphic and web designer who helps me with the look I want for my blog. It's really a team effort.

Spotlight: How do you attract advertisers/sponsors?
David G: I give them quality posts. I can't even count how many drafts I've deleted because I wasn't satisfied with the content. I treat my blog as a magazine wherein i'm the editor in chief, creative director, writer, model (feel na feel haha) and I'm in control with how I want my work to be presented to the viewers. It's fun but I take it seriously as well.

some of David's sponsors. Isn't it amazing? Amazing! Haha

Spotlight: For you, what is fashion?
David G: I never know how to answer this question. As much as I hate to say the cliche answer "it's about expressing yourself." --it really is about that. Haha! Fashion is all about personality. You can really tell a lot about a person by how he/she dresses. So better make it a good one right? haha!

"It's always a good time" outfit post

"CEO State of Mind" outfit post

Spotlight: What's your own fashion style?
David G: My personal style is a bit of preppy and grunge. It's always a mix of two different styles.  I go for a lot of black, red, leather, cargo. Not much into prints! I keep everything comfy, basic--but with an edge.

"Sneak out with Me" outfit post

"Baby it's cold outside" outfit post

"Christmas Eve" outfit post

Spotlight: What makes your blog unique among all other fashion/style blogs?
David G: I guess it's me trying to connect with my readers. I treat them as my barkada. I hang out with a lot of them, actually.

Spotlight: How do you see your blog 5 years from now?
David G: I can see it evolving. A little less about fashion and more on lifestyle, fitness, food, travels, gadgets maybe? I don't really know. I guess we have to catch up with the technology!

For David, content is “King”. He reads a lot of international and local blogs, and he can stay on their sites for hours and hours just because he’s drawn into how creative they are with every aspect. From the styling, photography, lighting, write up, layout, etc.
And of course, David G has a message for all the aspiring bloggers, or to be specific, style bloggers out there (like me, haha!) “So for all the aspiring bloggers, just give your readers amazing content--and everything else will follow.”

God bless you, Mr. David Guison! Hope to see you in Dinagyang! :)

BLACK Friday

Well it's not literally as the Black Friday we celebrate in the month of April, rather I just labelled it as Friday wearing black outfit lol. This is my first outfit post, a minimalist one, and I was inspired by the couture weather. Everytime the weather is cold or rainy, I prefer to wear black or dark-colored outfits to keep myself warm and comfortable. For me, (and I guess everyone would agree) that black is really chic and looks good even just a plain shirt paired with jeans and sneakers. One is never over-dressed or underdressed with black!
So lately, I kept on wearing black clothes. Since its Friday, I would like to end the week in a minimalistic way of approach, but still couture. How about you? What's your best way of ending the week couturely? :)

What I'm wearing: royal guard-printed shirt (Bioworld), jeans (Bum), sunnies (Ray Ban), backpack, wristwatch (Omax), pink polca-dotted socks, oxford shoes (W Brown).

I really love this bag and it deserves a huge space on this post! Haha!
